Camp Koinonia  ~  Cle Elum, WA

Bring an instrument, bring your voice and bring your spirit to the Oregon/Washington District “arts gathering.”  Good fellowship around music, story, and visual arts is the focus of the weekend, but we will also eat, rest and recreate at beautiful Camp Koinonia.  Weekend begins with dinner on Friday the 15th and concludes with lunch on Sunday the 17th.  All are invited!   Information available in LCC office.

    HOW WE HAVE HELPED

Monthly, as a form of personal outreach, we ask for you to ‘spare one’ item for either the Thurston County Food Bank or the YWCA Other Bank. Sometimes the offerings have seemed lean, other times extremely generous. With love may we continue to help provide for our brothers and sisters in need.

 SUNDAY LUNCH AT THE CHURCH

That’s the name for our newest church dinner event which will be held after the worship service on the last Sunday of each the month. This is not a potluck as all of the food is furnished and prepared for you. We do ask for donations to help defray the cost of the food.

A number of people in our congregation eat alone much of the time either at home or at a restaurant and this is an opportunity for a time of companionship with friends. It might also be a less expensive way for families to eat out. Hopefully, this can develop into an outreach opportunity as we invite others to join us for Sunday Lunch at the Church.

Midweek prayers

You are invited to gather in the sanctuary for a special time of prayer each Wednesday at noon.  For several years now, people have come to pause, reflect and share in prayer. Beginning September 6, this meaningful time will expand a bit to include to explore and practice a variety of prayer disciplines.  Please stop by when you can to learn, to reflect, and to feed your spirit.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that in addition to its in-house food program, the Thurston County Food Bank also has outreach programs?  Through a new program, the Food Bank provides special food packets for homeless and needy children in our community.  Weekdays, these children receive breakfasts and lunches at their schools, but not on weekends.  So, the Food Bank provides packets of food to these children to help nourish them over the weekend.

With new programs like this, regular client needs and continuing special assistance for flood victims, the Food Bank needs our help more than ever.  Please pick up something for the Food Bank the next time you shop for groceries.
